Recognizing excellence in agricultural trade and policy research.

Dr. Sandro Steinbach, Director of the Center for Agricultural Policy and Trade Studies (CAPTS) at North Dakota State University, and Yasin Yildirim, Ph.D. student in Agribusiness and Applied Economics, together with Colin A. Carter at the University of California, Davis,

were recently recognized by the Giannini Foundation of Agricultural Economics for authoring one of the Most Downloaded Articles in the Agricultural and Resource Economics Update.

Their article, “Further Trade Wars Will Harm California Agriculture,” available here, examines how renewed trade tensions could impact California’s agricultural sector, one of the most productive and globally connected in the United States. Reflecting on the recognition, Dr. Steinbach shared: “Our work aims to bring research-driven insights into trade policy debates and support the long-term competitiveness of U.S. agriculture.”

Yildirim added, “Being recognized like this reminds me why I focus on trade policy and agriculture. It’s encouraging to see our research reach audiences interested in California agriculture and policy.”

This honor highlights the impact of CAPTS' research across the nation.
